Primary Artifact 1

The picture that I chose to post is a picture of Delta Gamma's philanthropy event, Anchor Splash. To find this picture, all I did was google search Anchor Splash, Delta Gamma and many images popped up. Anchor Splash is a philanthropy event where many other sororities and fraternities participate in a swim meet and it costs money to make a team. Many people come to support and cheer on their teams, so it becomes very competitive and it is a lot of fun. All the money that is collected from the teams and from the tickets of the fans, goes to a charity, Service for Sight, which is an organization that helps kids read who have very bad vision or helps those kids who are blind. This is very useful for my project because as I explained, the philanthropy event is a very fun way of helping a lot of those kids in need.

Community

The community that I have chosen to make a documentary about is the CSF community. CSF stands for Christian Student Fellowship and it is a Christian church located on UK's campus. CSF is a community because it is a community of Christians coming together to worship God. I don't know a ton about CSF, I have not yet attended a service there but I do know that they have many church services, they are Christian based and that they give out free pancakes every Friday night at midnight! Everyone working there seems like such nice people when I have talked to them. I would like to find out a lot about the community, such as how many people attend the services? How many services are there and when are they? Do you have to bring your own Bible or will they provide one? Who leads the services? Do they worship and sing a lot? How similar is it to my church from back at home? My relationship to the community is that I am a Christian, and grew up in a Christian family going to church a lot. I love my church back home so I feel like I would enjoy this community as well, and that is why I have chosen this community.

Introduction Blog

          My name is Sydney Hoback and I am from Springboro, Ohio. (It is a little south of Dayton, and  north of Cincinnati). My major is Human Health Sciences. As of now, I am on the track of pre physical therapy. Physical therapy has always interested me since I have been around sports my whole life so helping others recover from injuries really interests me. Physical Therapy is also very rewarding which is another thing that draws my attention to it.
          I've played soccer my whole life. This is the first year where I have not played which is a little weird for me since my life before this has revolved around soccer. As long as I can remember, I've always been athletic and adventurous. I grew up going to a lake in Tennessee so I've grown to love the outdoors along with the water and doing water sports. Loving the outdoors makes me love to travel. I love seeing all new parts of the world and experiencing different cultures. I'm hoping throughout my life I will be able to continue to travel to many different places.
         My expectations for this class are to learn to love writing and become a better and more through writer. I really don't like writing papers or essays, it stresses me out a lot. I'm hoping that this class will allow me to look forward to writing and to enjoy it.
         A community that I identify with is Ohio State football fan. I've grown up in a family who has always been huge OSU fans and last year when they were playing in the football tournament, my family and I would go to my neighbors house to watch the big games. I love watching the exciting games with the fellow OSU fans dressed up in all of their attire and get just as excited as I do. This year I'm looking forward to being a part of UK fans!
